This workshop has been developed to provide an overview of assistive devices for persons with hearing impairments. The workshop facilitator is Dr. Gary McFayden, of the T.K. Martin Center at Mississippi State.
Topics to be covered include:
Anatomy of the Human Ear
Types and measurements of hearing losses
Hearing Aids - what they can and cannot do
Assistive Devices for Hearing Impairment
Assistive Devices for Deafness
Tips for communicating with people who are deaf or have hearing difficulty
ADA Auxiliary Aids and Services
There is no fee for this workshop, but seating is limited and preregistration is required. To register call the Project START office in Jackson at (800) 852-8328. Parking permits will be issued from the front desk at the T.K. Martin Center for nearby on-campus parking.
